Main Street Veteran Returns to Gloucester
The Gloucester Revolving Loan Fund is pleased to announce Ashley Gilmartin Weast as their new Executive Director. A Gloucester-native and an expert in economic development, Ashley brings a wealth of experience to the organization, having previously served as the Executive Director of the Gloucester Main Street Association. The Main Street Preservation Trust has also appointed Ashley Gilmartin Weast as Interim Executive Director.
Ashley Weast's extensive background in economic development, gained from her successful tenure in Hampton and Virginia Beach, uniquely positions her to lead these vital community organizations. Her return to Gloucester is a homecoming that marks a significant step forward for the region's economic growth and preservation efforts.
In her new role as Executive Director of the Gloucester Revolving Loan Fund, Ashley will focus on providing critical financial resources to local businesses. This fund plays a crucial role in stimulating economic development and job creation in Gloucester Village and surrounding areas. Ashley's deep-rooted understanding of the community's needs, coupled with her prior accomplishments in economic development, make her the ideal choice to lead this initiative.
Additionally, Ashley will serve as the Interim Executive Director of Main Street Preservation Trust, where she will build upon the organization's legacy of preserving the charm and character of Gloucester Village. The Trust has been instrumental in enhancing the aesthetics and economic vitality of the area through various preservation projects and initiatives.
Diana West, the former Executive Director of Main Street Preservation Trust, will be stepping down from her role to return to Northern Virginia to be with her family, who were unable to relocate to Gloucester. Diana has made significant contributions to the Trust and the community during her tenure, and her dedication is greatly appreciated.
Gloucester Village, a thriving community with a rich history, continues to benefit from philanthropic investments made by the Trust. Under the leadership of Founding Director Jenny Crittenden, who now serves as the CEO of Retail Alliance in Norfolk, Virginia, Gloucester has flourished as a vibrant hub for both residents and visitors.
Crittenden, who served Gloucester’s historic Main Street for 16 years, expressed her support for Ashley Weast, stating, "I have the utmost confidence in Ashley's ability to lead both the Gloucester Revolving Loan Fund and serve as the Interim Executive Director of the Main Street Preservation Trust. I hired her initially for the Gloucester Main Street Association because of her unwavering commitment to the community and her exceptional skills. She is the right person to carry forward our mission in collaboration with all stakeholders and partners."
