Main Street Preservation Trust Welcomes Diana West As Executive Director

Main Street Preservation Trust welcomes the arrival of experienced nonprofit executive Diana West as the new Executive Director.

West first came to Gloucester in 1994, visiting Brent and Becky’s – planning what her family still calls “the daffodil wedding.” Diana loves all daffodils, but her favorites are doubles, jonquils, and tazettas. West comes to Gloucester with more than 20 years of experience in the non-profit world, primarily in the education and museum sectors. Most recently, Diana was the director of programs and communications for a new tall ship museum in Alexandria, where she conducted the research, designed all the visitor programs, handled the marketing and communications, and even wrote a one-act play.Adrianne Joseph, founder and Chair of Main Street Preservation Trust, said, “We are excited to have someone truly competent and committed to supporting and invigorating our Main Street. Her understanding of how the preservation of our historic village and the need for a thriving Main Street environment is essential. Main Street Preservation Trust, the business and property owners, our entire community, and visitors are all working towards a brighter future for Gloucester.”

Originally from the Midwest, Diana spent part of her childhood in a small town in southern Illinois. Her interest in historic preservation was ignited in high school when her family moved to the Central West End of St. Louis, and she saw the restorations and renovations taking place all around her.

West said: “It is exciting to be invited to come to Gloucester, and to be a part of small-town life once again is tremendously appealing. The people, the pace of life, and our beautiful environment here in the Chesapeake watershed are extraordinary. I look forward to supporting and extending MSPT’s involvement in the community, and our designated Main Street continues to be a source of pride for all.”

Diana graduated from Wellesley College with a BA in American Studies and earned a Master’s in Government from William and Mary.
